A fireplace, whether located indoors or outdoors requires a cover. Fireplace covers are meant to keep away dust and other particles when the fireplace is not in use. During spring and summer, a fireplace can gather a lot of dirt which
can become a cumbersome cleaning task later on. Also fireplace covers serve another important purpose. They can help prevent injury to children in the house from hard edges or poles sticking out of the fireplace.
Why a
fireplace cover is necessary?
A fireplace is not used throughout the year. During spring and summer, any empty place can gather dust and particles. It is important that the fireplace area is closed to prevent dust from
accumulating in it. Outdoor fireplaces are exposed to the elements of weather and hence require more care in their maintenance. A fireplace with a cover is generally found to be long-lasting and would require minimum effort in terms of
cleaning or maintenance over a longer period of time.
Types of fireplace covers
Generally two types of fireplace covers are available in the market. Depending on what material they are made of, fireplace covers
can be soft or hard. Soft covers are made from materials such as polyester or nylon. These synthetic fibers can be durable during extreme weather conditions and at the same time prove useful in preventing injury to children. Hard
covers are usually made of glass and can be placed in front of the opening of the fireplace, efficiently preventing any harm to the people in the house.
Fireplace covers in the market
Fireplace covers that are
available in the market come at a price range from $20 to $100. The price would depend upon the type, material and model that you would choose. Generally, hard covers like the ones made from glass are costlier than others. But the
advantages of using a fireplace cover made of glass are many and the benefits definitely outweigh the costs. A fireplace requires much time and effort for its upkeep and fireplace covers are one of the best ways of maintaining them in an efficient manner.
